We understand and respect that you are concerned about your privacy. We
have established this privacy policy to explain how your information is
collected, stored, protected and used. This Policy may be updated from
time to time.
1. Collection of Information
Connecting Neighbors collects personal information when you (1) submit
information to a neighborhood website, (2) subscribe to the neighborhood
newsletter, (3) make a request to contact a sponsor for a neighborhood and (4)
when you visit a neighborhood website. In this context, when we collect your email
address, it is for purposes such as sending confirmation emails, authenticating
user accounts, providing subscription email services, and providing you
updates pertaining to the services provided by Connecting Neighbors.
Our web logs collect standard web log entries for each page served, including
your IP address, page URL, and timestamp. Web logs help us to diagnose
problems with our server, to administer the sites, and to otherwise provide
our service to you.
2. Data We Store
All submissions are stored in our database, even after "deletion,"
and may be archived elsewhere. Our web logs and other records are stored
indefinitely.
Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe to the newsletter, thereby removing
their email from the newsletter subscription list, by accessing the link
at the bottom of each monthly newsletter.
Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure
operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee
complete security.
3. Privacy Protection
Connecting Neighbors will not sell or otherwise transfer your contact
information to third parties without your permission. We do not run banner
ads, pop ups, pop unders, or any other kind of commercial ads. We do not
engage in cross-marketing or link-referral programs with other sites.
We do not send you unsolicited communications for marketing purposes.
We do not knowingly collect any information from persons under the age
of 13 without parental consent. If we learn that a posting is by a person
under the age of 13, we will remove that post.
When you make a submission to your neighborhood website, or subscribe to the
neighborhood newsletter, you provide Connecting Neighbors and the sponsor
of the site the permission to contact you about the specific submission or
interaction. We are careful to limit the communication to you to matters that
relate to your specific participation on the neighborhood website, newsletter,
or any other service provided by Connecting Neighbors.
Connecting Neighbors, or people who post on the neighborhood websites, may
provide links to third party websites, which may have different privacy
practices. We are not responsible for, nor have any control over, the
privacy policies of those third party websites, and encourage all users
to read the privacy policies of each and every website visited.
4. Use of Private Information
On occasion, Connecting Neighbors may need to communicate with you about
changes to the neighborhood website, neighborhood newsletter, or any other
service provided by Connecting Neighbors. We will never include third-party
commercial information in these communications.
Connecting Neighbors may disclose information about its users if required
to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably
necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process.
Connecting Neighbors may also disclose information about its users to
law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such
disclosure is reasonably necessary to (1) enforce our Terms of Service,
(2) respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights
of third-parties; or (3) protect the rights, property, or personal safety
of Connecting Neighbors, its users or the general public.
From time to time, Connecting Neighbors may disclose aggregate user data to
advertisers or other third parties.
Any questions or comments about our Privacy Policy may be e-mailed to
privacy@connectingneighbors.com.
